There has been quite some progress in the NEPOMUK-KDE project over recent weeks. Note the anti-aliased rendering in this view. For example, a CPU watermark for the CPU chart. One idea is to have the background dark with a watermark changing for each graph.

  • An experimental SVG background for the graph plotters.
  • The same list displayed as a Tree view.
  • Every field for every process has a detailed tooltip with more information. It shows processes owned by the current user at the top, sub-sorted by the CPU usage. This is the first thing you see when ksysguard is launched.
  • A beautiful, semi-transparent gradiented progress bar is shown for the CPU percentage and memory usage, again also using the Oxygen colors. Here are some screenshots of the improvements:.
  • A large amount of work has gone into performance, startup time and memory usage optimisation.
  • A more complex process list shows information such as the amount of X-Server memory a process uses, and the window title of the application.
  • Subtle colors are used to enhance usability, using the Oxygen colors.
  • The list of processes is greatly simplified, with the default sorting being by user 'type' first (own user, other users, system), and then by CPU usage.
  • Units are shown within graphs, with nicer tooltips showing a key along with the current values.
  • SVG support for the graph plotter backgrounds.
  • The graphs are anti-aliased, with beautifully-smooth bezier curves connecting the points.
  • The main new features already implemented for the version that will be shipped with KDE 4 are: Most notable are the "Disconnection to localhost" problems that should now be fixed in both the main KSysGuard application and in the System Guard kicker applet (in both 3.x and 4) along with numerous painting/rendering bug fixes. Over a dozen filed bugs have been fixed, with several wishes fulfilled.

only after 15 minutes if I pause the stream, which is awesome, it works fine as intended !īut it would be perfect and complete in my case to also have the option to make the TV go blank/dark/black( not off) after X minutes. The KDE task manager, KSysGuard, has seen many improvements across the board, and these enhancements can be experienced in both KDE 3.5.6 and in KDE 4. If I play a clip with VLC or SMplayer, or Youtube, the TV doesn't turn off.

You can dim the screen after X minutes, you can power off after X minutes, but you just cand blank the screen, like you can in Windows or LM Cinnamon(shows the clock). The Energy Saving on KDE is missing(in my opinion) the feature to just blank the screen (like dark black 100%). I think we are getting a little off track. What player(s) do you use? Does the TV get to sleep if there is no paused video or similar? Anyway, your program must set an inhibitor lock while playing to prevent energy saving, and remove it later. Some players may not unlock the session on pausing, I do not know. If you pause the stream, it will just blank after the time you set.

Your system doesn't sleep, even if there is no user activity.

Sounds like an issue with screensaver-inhibit instead of power-management-settings itself.Īs an example: You are streaming your favorite series on «disneys netflix prime» in a browser window and keep watching for hours. And sorry for the long potato description of my problemįlowXP wrote:And what do you mean by send the TV to sleep ? Right now the Energy Savig work almost perfect.įor example I set my TV to " switch off" after 15 minutes here. That's why I need something to just go blank and if I'm still not around after 15 min then it can power off. So to power off and on very often a digital device that contains a processors is not a good idea. So the solution should be for the TV to go black after 1 minute so it will not get damaged in time.sometimes I leave it unattended for a couple of hours sometimes only for 2 minutes. The thing is that I use the laptop with the TV attached to watch movies and youtube clips and very often I have to pause them. but it's a barbaric solution so far and I always have to close the photo when moving the mouse. I also tried with a command to show a dark photo in " Run script" after 1 minute. could you point me in the direction ?Īnd what do you mean by send the TV to sleep ? Right now the Energy Savig work almost perfect.įor example I set my TV to " switch off" after 15 minutes here. Either use a classic nf or a command line script or alias to explicit send the TV to sleep. You could use DPMS to do this independend of your chosen desktop environment.
